59. Benjamin Franklin Lindsey

Benjamin Franklin Lindsey, son of John Lindsey (Vol. II), was bornin Montgomery County, Dec. 24, 1820. He was married in Lowndes (now Berrien County, Feb. 11, 1847, to Rachel, daughter of John Sutton (Vol.III). She was born Nov. 15, 1828 in Lowndes, (now Berrien) County.

Mr. Lindsey lived on the present Nashville -Adel highway west of the river forming the present county-line between Cook and Berrien Counties;territory until 1918, in Berrien County. He served as Justice of Peace, 1156 district, 1857-1869, and was a member of the Berrien County Board of Commissioners, 1872-1876. In 1881, he was elected Ordinary in January,and took office but died the same year, Nov. 20, 1881. Mrs. Lindsey died July 10, 1904. They were buried in the cemetery at Salem Church, now the city (Woodlawn) cemetery in Adel.
