Jacob HULL
was born in Adams County, Pennsylvania, on March 10, 1807, the son of
George and Hull. Jacob Hull settled in Martinsburg, Berkeley County, in
May 1833 and moved to Hedgesville in 1838. At that time, there were few
houses in the area, so Mr. Hull, a carpenter, joiner and mechanic,
purchased a lot and built a substantial house in Hedgesville, Berkeley
County, West Virginia. Jacob Hull married Elizabeth Seibert, born in
Hedgesville in 1818, the daughter of Michael Seibert; she died in 1862.
Their three sons were: George M. Hull, John T. Hull, and Dallas S. Hull.
All three sons were in the Confederate service under Jackson, in the 2nd
Virginia Regiment and served through the entire war. John T. Hull was a
second lieutenant in Company G of that regiment and was severely wounded
at the battle of Chancellorsville. George M. Hull was wounded slightly at
the battle of Fort Republic and was taken prisoner in 1865 to Point
Pleasant. Dallas S. Hull was also wounded during that battle. George and
John moved to Missouri.
